This Year all Drivers again participated in their State Mandated Refresher Course on August 26th.
Topics this year included Student Safety Inititives and Student behavior. Speakers included Pete Tunney (Transportation Director) Mike Powers (Asst. Director) and guest speaker Cathy Welling; Prevention Coordinator for the Capital Region BOCES.
Quite a few Drivers took advantage of the increased amount of transportation required over the
summer months providing student transportation for Summer School programs, Community Swim Programs and Individual Camp field trips sponsored by the Colonie Youth Center.
Staff changes this year include three new drivers...."welcome Aboard" and a change in Office
personel. Pat Santandrea will be starting the School Year in her new position at the High School and Carol, our Dispatcher will be starting her first full school term in her new position which she was hired for in the middle of our last school year.
Our new buses have arrived, which should "ease" some of the work load on our mechanics and bring
a sigh of relief to "Fred". Our older buses were becoming very inefficient and not cost effective to maintain.
South Colonie's School District ranks in the top 30% as one of the best throughout the United
States. It is the dedication and commitment of many, from teachers, support staff, Administration, the voting public, and Transportation which make this all possible.
